Irish Travelers
2014
Acrylic on paper with newsprint
20"x30"
$300
Irish Travelers have been called many things - "Gypsies," "Tinkers" - they are the dispossessed, lands taken in far off times and driven to roam the roadways of Ireland in horse and cart. They are not, however, Romany gypsies. Their red hair, freckles and tall stature denotes and ancient celtic lineage. This painting portrays their brief encounter on a road somewhere in the center of the country in a traditional "caravan."
